Are You Addicted to Your Phone?

There is a really bad addiction that is taking over a huge percentage of the world. This addiction is zapping people’s time, keeping them from doing what truly matters and making people hate their lives. Not only that, but it is killing relationships, drifting families apart and killing people’s dreams. That addiction is phone addiction! Are you addicted to your phone?

The solution comes from recognizing the problem first

In order to find out if you are addicted to your mobile phone, you first have to recognize the bad habit you have formed, to begin with. So, how do we reconize that we are addicted?  Well, that is rather simple and it can be completed in a very easy but powerful technique which takes you jotting down on a piece of paper how many times in a day you actually pick up your phone to check your messages and social media. You can keep a tally score on a little post-it-note so it’s simple, easy and quick to record.

Keep a count in all areas!

If you spend much time in the car, then stick a post-it-note to your dashboard as well. Then try to get into the habit of marking the tally each time you have picked up your phone. What this will do is create a visual count of how many times you are picking up your phone in one day. When you have your daily count, keep going and do this exercise for a complete month. Then count the total amount of times you picked up your phone!

Are you addicted to your phone?

Even though you are keeping a count of how many times you pick up your phone, I want you also to pay attention to how you feel after you have been on your phone. At any time while scrolling social media did you compare yourself to somebody else or what they are doing? Did you spend too long scrolling the newsfeed and now you have little time for anything else?

Having a mobile phone and social media addiction can be crippling to your life and business. Unless you become aware of it now and stop it before it takes over your life completely. I know, I use to be terrible for it and completely worked myself to near death through constantly being on demand and my mobile phone ruling my life. Here are my 5 top tips for gaining back control of your life, and beating this addiction:

  1. Turn off all notifications in your settings. You are no longer on demand like Netflix
  2. Delete the Facebook app from your phone, so you can only access it through the desktop.
  3. Add the Facebook Pages app to your phone to communicate with your following and reply to post comments.
  4. Pick certain days you will sign into your Facebook account to respond to messages. For me, this is only Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s now. This way I regained control of experiencing real life away from social media again.
  5. Remember that there is nothing more important than spending time with those you love, your phone can wait!

These 5 starting points for me where HUGE! Not only did they take off so much pressure in my life, but they also give me back control of my life again. I hope by sharing these with you and applying the tally exercise to your everyday life really helps you to stop picking up that phone, and concentrate on what truly matters the most.

Every day people are distroying there own lives and businesses because this addiction is causing them to worry what other people think and do on social media, which ends up ruling their life and time.

Don’t be one of them, don’t fall into that trap!

Use the tips I have given you and gain back control of your life, just like I did!

It’s a great feeling to be back in control of your destiny!

I hope this helps you on your journey!

Until next time, make this day your best day yet!

God bless,
